Meet the Smithsburg EDC
The Smithsburg Economic Development Commission (EDC) is a hard-working group of passionate volunteers seeking to revitalize downtown Smithsburg through events, promotions and business development. As part of that mission, the EDC created "Visit Smithsburg" to promote the town to a wider audience.
The EDC was created in 2020 as an advisory body to the Town Mayor and Council with the purpose of fostering an economic environment that attracts and retains businesses, promotes job creation, and supports a growing tax base. As part of its responsibilities, the EDC is charged with researching, reviewing, and making recommendations on issues related to the economic development of the Town, including: opportunities in which the town can expand existing businesses, attract desirable new business, and revitalize existing businesses and the community as a whole.
