Smithsburg’s Music & Arts Tapestry Festival kicks off the town’s annual monthly event series
This Saturday, locals will gather to celebrate community and culture
SMITHSBURG–This Saturday in Smithsburg marks the return of the town’s annual “Third in the ‘Burg” monthly event series, starting with the popular Music & Arts Tapestry Festival. This event–which drew more than 1,000 visitors in 2024—celebrates the unique threads within the tapestry of our community by weaving community and culture together in downtown Smithsburg.
This year’s festival features the best of local art, entertainment and culture—all at no cost to attendees. Activities and entertainment include:
● Latin dance performances followed by an interactive dance lesson from the Kassandra Cultural Center.
● Live music by The Few.
● Participating in the Smithsburg Community Cultural Tapestry art project.
● Free face painting for kids.
With food trucks, local eats, and vendors to visit, this four-hour event has something for everyone to enjoy and get their creativity flowing. Click here to view the event on Facebook.
Sponsored by the Smithsburg Economic Development Commission, the Third in the ‘Burg series was launched in 2024 as part of the commission’s mission to promote Smithsburg to the wider region and encourage foot traffic downtown. The free events include entertainment and activities and are held on the third Saturday of each month.
The series this year runs from May through October and builds off the successes of the first year while incorporating new ideas tied directly to the Smithsburg community. The summer months feature a downtown “history crawl” and other activities, a car show, and a summer block party. In the fall, Smithsburg celebrates harvest season with a farm-to-table fair in September and Ciderfest in October.
